A samourai in combat used katana made from precious steel (tamahagane). This type of steel was created from a traditional smelting process that resulted in unparalleled sharpness and strength of the sword. Modern martial artists still use a variety of katana.
These days Bitcoin hodlers don’t use swords but rather cryptographic tools to fight the omnipresent surveillance state. Samourai Wallet is a good example of such a tool. Focused on privacy and ease of use it makes day-to-day transactions in Bitcoin possible completely bypassing the current financial system.
That’s why we teamed up with folks at Samourai Wallet to create a Samourai themed edition of Coldbit Steel.
Why do I need Coldbit Steel – Samourai Edition ?
Samourai Wallet uses BIP39 mnemonic seed + obligatory passphrase as a backup mechanism.
Coldbit Steel lets you stamp this seed on a plate made from stainless steel and your passphrase on a stainless hex rod.
This way even if you lose your mobile phone with Samourai Wallet on it you have a very secure and durable backup of your wallet that you use to recover the wallet.
I can back up the seed on a piece of paper. Is it a good idea ?
Paper will not survive flood, house fire, car accidents and other catastrophic scenarios. Stainless steel will. Besides samourai use steel, not paper.
What’s included in the package:
- 1x Coldbit Steel – Samourai Edition
- 1x Coldbit Passphrase
- 1x testing plate/support
- metal box
What’s not included:
- A katana. The best way to obtain a katana is to find a sword-smith who can forge it. The second best way is to learn to make it yourself.
